Established in Nyon, NGL Cleaning Technology SA is a cleantech company specialising in the high-precision industrial cleaning products used in various stages of the manufacturing process. The products are especially suitable for cleaning with ultrasound, brush machines or spray systems.

NGL’s specific area is the design of water-based cleaning products only, which are particularly protective of the environment, but also the staff who use them. Various product ranges have been developed according to their applications, in sectors as varied as watch and jewellery making, as well as optics, micro-mechanics, medical implants, crystal making, PVD-CVD, cars, furnishings and even tap making. With their signifi cant R&D department, the company offers products whose features don’t just meet strict standards, they actually go beyond those standards.

Recently, NGL established a branch in Chicago, in addition to those it opened in the last four years in Denmark, France, China, Singapore and Germany. This company has seen continuous upward growth. In recent years, its staff numbers went from 25 to 80 people.

The role of the company is not just to develop, manufacture and distribute chemical products. “We would like to offer our clients a total concept, including the chemistry of cleaning and surface preparation, tools for managing procedures, and physicochemical solutions for processing waste water”, said Jean-Michel BALMELLE, Managing Director.

So, through the internally established “Application Centre” and the “NGL Academy”, NGL trains its clients in how to use the products and optimise the processes of cleaning and waste water processing. Their close relationship with their clients allows NGL to develop personalized procedures, and to offer a wide range of customized products. In recent years – and this is unique in the field – the company has brought together a team of experts to offer not only chemical waste water processing, but also equipment such as water treatment plants or evaporation concentrators so that clients can treat waste water themselves.

Since the company was formed, in the late 1970s, the founders prioritized water-based product solutions, at a time when solvents were mostly the norm. Since 2009, NGL has been guided by a new shareholder which has considerably developed its activities and intends to accelerate this growth internationally. As Jean-Michel BALMELLE explained, being a Swiss company is a major advantage in this expansion. “Switzerland carries values of precision, rigour and cleanliness. That’s not just an image, it’s a reality and these Swiss characteristics are well-known abroad.”
