REGULATIONS

The regulations are changing, and so are our labels!

In recent years, European legislation has changed regarding the classification, packaging and labelling of chemical substances and compounds. The changes are already in place in terms of substances.

As a manufacturer of chemical compositions, NGL has taken all steps to make the necessary changes

The CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging of chemicals) regulation supplements the REACH legislation whose overall objective is to facilitate the international trade of chemical products, while maintaining protection levels for health and the environment.

It should be noted that the legislation provides for a transitional period for products already manufactured before 1 June 2015 and labelled under the old system.

This regulation, which enters into force on 1 June 2015, must be mentioned on the Safety Data Sheets (SDS or MSDS) and product labels. All our Safety Data Sheets are already compliant with the CLP regulation.

We will label products manufactured from 1 June onwards according to the CLP regulation; the new information on the label will be:

  • The classification of chemical products: new and stricter hazard thresholds, for the protection of humans and the environment (Wording of the caution: Danger or Warning)
  • Identification of hazards: new pictograms compliant with the GHS (Global Harmonized System); an international labelling system for hazardous substances
  • Information for users on such hazards: standardised wording
